Evan the fish!

Wow, We are so proud of Evan, he took his first swim lessons this summer and did great. He was only one skill away from moving up to level 3!!! Today we decided to go to the pool since it was so stinkin hot and humid. Evan was practicing his swimming with me and then when rest period came he said he wanted to take his swim test. He had never swam the whole distance before, so we were a little unsure how he'd do. He got in the pool and put his head down and swam the whole width of the pool!!! He passed his swim test and can now go down the slide or off the diving board whenever he wants. This has been his goal all summer and he accomplished it!! We are SO proud of him!! He is loving the slide (Not as sure about the diving board, but that will come soon I'm sure)!!!! GREAT job Evan!

Kids Can Win $20,000 Savings Bond for College!

K’NEX is inviting kids to design a creative, original model made entirely from K’NEX parts. Three imaginative children – one from each of the three age groups: 5 to 6-year-olds; 7 to 8-year-olds; and, 9 to 12-year-olds - will each win a $20,000 savings bond for college. The winning builders will represent K’NEX as K’NEXperts during 2012, the company’s 20^th anniversary year. The models made entirely of K’NEX pieces are judged on creativity, uniqueness and detail.

In addition to $20,000 for college (the largest award K’NEX has ever offered in this contest), the three grand prize winners will also receive a trip for three to K'NEX headquarters near Philadelphia, PA for the K’NEXpert Award Ceremony, where they can meet each other and discover, through company designers and a factory tour, how K’NEX is made. This fun video follows last year’s three grand prize winners through their day at K’NEX. Additionally, seven finalists will each receive $1,000 savings bonds and all ten winners will receive $250 worth of free K’NEX Building Sets, and their very own photo gallery page at www.knex.com.

Evan turns 5!!

Evan turns 5 on Monday and we had his party this weekend. He had a Lego party and it turned out great! Here is the cake that I made.

He got lots of really cool gifts and had a lot of fun opening them. We also played some fun games which I did not get any pictures of but included I spy the Lego guy, where I hid a bunch of lego guys around the yard and they had to find them. Lego drop, where they had all different sized legos and had to try to drop them in a jar. And, the lego pass, where they had a lego on a spoon and had to pass it back and forth between kids. They did really well and had a lot of fun.

We will be heading to our annual trip to the zoo tomorrow, hoping for some relief from the HOT weather. Happy birthday to my Evan. I love you!
